Recruit post-doctoral fellow

The post of post-doctoral fellow is a fixed-term, career-development position largely devoted to research, although teaching duties may also be included. Appointment as a postdoctoral fellow has no basis in the Swedish Employment Protection Act (SFS 1982:80). In Swedish called LAS.

Employment process

  1. The department manage the recruitment and employment process in consultation with the HR administrator at the department or the HR administrator at the LTH office.
  2. A working group is appointed and conflicts of interest must be taken into account. A working group is a small preparatory body at department level that is to include at least one student representative. Read more in Lund University appointment rules on Staff pages, LU (Chapter 5.2).

  3. A job-specification is proposed based on the needs analysis and is formed in consultation with the HR administrator. State the field of employment in the job-specification. The job-specification forms the basis for the announcement.
  4. The vacancy announcement of the employment is made free of charge on Lund University's website, the Swedish Employment Service and Euraxess by the HR administrator. The department can, and is also encouraged to spread the advertisement in its networks. At a cost, there are also more channels to market the advertisement on. For example, scientific journals, social and professional networks (Linkedin, ResearchGate, Facebook och Intstagram etc). The vacancy announcement shall always be advertised for a minimum of two weeks.
  5. The recruitmentgroup documents the process and submits a written statement containing a proposal and justification regarding the appointment.
  6. The statement is signed by the head of department, who decides on the appointment.
  7. Onboarding of the new employee is planned and done by the department and it is an important part of the recruitment process.
  8. An individual skills development plan is prepared in conjunction with the appointment, which is then followed up on an annual basis.
