Degree projects
Here you will find information on the principle of public access and confidentiality in relation to degree projects, and links to agreement templates produced by Lund University that you as a supervisor and/or examiner may need.
The principle of public access applies to degree projects
The main rule for degree projects at LTH is that they should be public, that is, they should be published openly and be available to everyone. Openness is a prerequisite for the exercise of public authority, such as examinations where the degree project forms the basis for grading. By law, the degree project must be archived at the university and, based on the principle of public access, it becomes a public document when it is submitted for examination. This cannot be avoided in an agreement.
Confidentiality at the University
Supervisors and examiners at the University are bound by confidentiality when the law stipulates it only. Supervisors and examiners cannot sign any confidentiality commitments beyond that.
In exceptional cases, LTH can sign confidentiality agreements with companies where it is stated that LTH will keep company information confidential (if LTH can do so in accordance with the Public access to information and secrecy act). However, it is never the individual supervisor or examiner who signs these agreements, but rather the person who is authorised to do so according to LTH’s delegation rules.
