Through honorary doctorates, LTH aims to reinforce the image of LTH as an outstanding, modern and professional faculty where we explore and create together, for the benefit of the world. Being appointed an honorary doctor at LTH is a mark of great appreciation.
The distinction is awarded to individuals who, through scientific excellence or other significant contributions to research, research infrastructure, industry or society, have contributed or are expected to contribute to LTH’s research, development, collaboration and visibility.
Honorary doctors are expected to represent LTH’s values and serve as ambassadors for the Faculty. To be eligible, candidates must meet the criteria set out in:

How to nominate your candidate
Submit a brief statement of motivation, approximately one A4 page, to hedersdoktor [at] lth [dot] lu [dot] se (hedersdoktor[at]lth[dot]lu[dot]se) no later than 22 October 2026.
The nomination should include brief descriptions of:
- Current and previous connections to LTH
- Scientific excellence and/or significant contributions to society related to research at LTH
- Expected future contributions to LTH’s activities
